Free and Reduced Rate Travel on Trains and Trams in Greater Manchester
Free travel for pensioners
If you have a TfGM-issued National Concessionary Travel Pass you can travel free on trains and trams in Greater Manchester any time after 9.30 a.m. Monday to Friday, or anytime on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays, provided you pay a £10 annual fee.
(The date you can get a NCT Pass is the same date that you can get your state pension.)
Cheap travel for anyone
For those without a TfGM-issued National Concessionary Travel Pass, the Greater Manchester Rail Ranger allows unlimited travel for one day on the Greater Manchester rail network (and on trams in the city centre) between 9.30 a.m. and 16.00 p.m., and from 18.30 p.m. onwards, Monday to Friday, or anytime on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. It costs £7.70 .
